We have developed an innovative approach to master-planning community wayfinding projects with our Assessment, Workscope, Co-Production and“Fast Trac” Programs. All of these components are used to cut down the consulting time, reduce costs and improve project completion time by accelerating design and identity seminars and site plan and mapping on consecutive days at the client's location.
| Assessment
The Guidance Pathways Assessment Program provides the overall "game plan" to intelligently plan and execute a streetscape information and sign system in a community. It establishes the framework in writing to include this essential component of urban planning in both "priority" and "budget".
A well thought out streetscape information and sign system is an insurance policy that reinforces and celebrates the attributes of a community. |
| | General Assessment Areas: | | • | | Review capabilities and degree of cooperation from community for co-production plan. | | • | | Master Plan coordination with Streetscape Signing and Information System. | | • | | Review state and county signing requirements and anticipated cooperation. | | • | | Review "Theme and Identity" issues. | | • | | Identify all types of important generators and venue destinations. |
|
| Workscope The GPS Workscope is the primary outline from which all projects begin. Our analysis involves a very detailed step-process approach by which we ascertain the important components, priorities, phases and co-production and can provide a realistic timeline and the real costs involved to complete the project. |
| | Workscope Components | | • | | Assessment | | • | | Training/Education | | • | | Brand Identity | | • | | Site Plan | | • | | Site Plan Documentation | | • | | Mapping | | • | | Sign Design "Family of Signs" | | • | | Design Consolidation | | • | | Engineering | | • | | General Manufacturing and Process | | • | | Documentation | | • | | Sign Permitting | | • | | Installation | | • | | Sign System Management | | • | | Service and Maintenance |
|
| Co-Production We employ a co-production approach to our projects whereby we access and use local client resources that can support the project rather than making them a billable item - for example, many communities have GIS support, provide MIS support, and have engineering in house or on retainer. |
| "FAST-TRAC" Experience has shown when initiating and developing a streetscape information and wayfinding system that "focus" is essential to get the important workscope components completed. Because of this, we have created and successfully used a comprehensive, consolidated and accelerated process by which we pre-plan and coordinate our efforts to maximize the stakeholder resource on consecutive days at their location. This program usually extends from three to six days and condenses visitation time, improves program continuity and provides for input as the program is progressing. |
